One week from Saturday, anyone still wanting to score tickets to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games - opening ceremonies, gold medal hockey, ski jumping, you name it - will get their shot.
The Vancouver Olympics organizing committee, known as VANOC, will be releasing more than 150,000 tickets to the public on Jun 6, beginning at 10 a.m. (PT) on vancouver2010.com.
Also available as single tickets starting next Saturday will be thousands of tickets to medallists' Victory Ceremonies, which will be held nightly at BC Place. The single tickets will cost $22.
Unlike the previous batch of tickets, which were available through a lottery system, next week's tickets will be available through a sort of "virtual waiting room."
Customers who visit the website will be directed to the room and randomly selected to enter the ticketing website. From there, customers can sign into their account and will be eligible to buy six separate events with a four- or eight-ticket limit to each event.
The first phase of Olympic ticket sales generated about $94.7 million in revenue, and VANOC has said it's predicting about $40 to $50 million this time around.
VANOC has offered several suggestions to potential ticket buyers, including the following tidbits: pre-register a ticketing account and examine the event schedule before June 6, refreshing the web page won't reduce your wait time, and Visa is the only payment card but customers can select another form of payment and mail a check.
Tickets will also be available by phone, 1-800-842-5287, and for those deaf or hard of hearing, 604-629-7140.
Italy's Giuliano Razzoli takes the gold medal in the men's slalom.
Mathieu Giroux, Lucas Makowsky and Denny Morrison win a tight race with the US.
