The Pacific Coliseum will be the host venue for all the figure skating and short track speed skating events at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The venue is currently the home of the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants and is the former home of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks. The Coliseum was also a host venue for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championships and game four of the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union.
For Vancouver 2010, the ice surface will have to be expanded to Olympic size to accommodate both the figure skating and short track speed skating events. Renovations have already included the replacement of 16,000 seats while upgrades to the washroom facilities, concession spaces, building heating/ventilation systems as well as ice plant improvements are scheduled.
Following the Games, the facility will continue to host concerts and other events as well as serve as the home arena for the Vancouver Giants.

The 1988 Calgary Games gave Robert Lepage his first exposure to Western Canada. Another Olympics has him coming back for more. The playwright, director, dancer and visionary will open a new theatre in Vancouver.
Italy's Giuliano Razzoli takes the gold medal in the men's slalom.
Mathieu Giroux, Lucas Makowsky and Denny Morrison win a tight race with the US.
