Edmonton's Randy Ferbey wrapped up a solid final draw with a decisive win at the 2009 Red Deer Curling Classic, while Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones took the top honours in the women's 2009 Red Deer Curling Classic. The Kevin Martin rink of Edmonton won the 2009 Whites Drug Store Classic after just four ends in the final draw.

Already qualified for the Olympic trials, Ferbey beat the Rob Armitage rink with a final score of 8-3, the game being called after six ends. The Ferbey rink scored a critical four point steal in the fourth end to open a massive lead that held through the rest of the draw.

The women's event saw a tightly contested draw between Jones and the Shannon Kleibrink rink from Calgary. Both teams have already secured a spot at the Olympic trials. Kleibrink stepped to an early lead scoring four points in the second end. Jones played catch up through the entire draw, stealing a single point in the eighth end to force an extra end. Another one point steal saw the Jones rink win with a final score of 8-7.

Martin and his rink beat the Petersfield, Man., rink of Dave Boehmer after just four ends. Martin opened with two points in the first, matched by Boehmer in the second. Four points by Martin in the third proved decisive, and Boehmer conceded the draw after four ends with a final score of 6-3.
