
Meghan Agosta had a pair of goals and an assist as the Canadian women's hockey team topped the Calgary Flames 3-2 on Thursday, its first game in the four-day Icebreaker tournament against Alberta Midget AAA competition.
The Flames took a 1-0 lead at 8:39 of the first period, when Carter Page put one past Canadian goalie, Shannon Szabados, of Edmonton, Alta.
Canada answered one minute later as Agosta scored her first goal, assisted by Jayna Hefford. The native of Ruthven, Ont. added her second goal a few minutes later at 13:27.
The Flames' Lucas Grundy beat Szabados at 9:10 of the third period to even the score. Then Agosta fed Cherie Piper, from Scarborough, Ont., who netted the eventual game-winner at 15:47.
Szabados made 32 saves in the victory at Calgary's Father David Bauer Olympic Arena, while Canada had just 17 shots on goal.
Canada next faces the UFA Bisons as the tournament continues on Friday.
