Dominik Hasek says his chances of participating in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver are slim after suffering a leg injury.
The 44-year-old is scheduled to miss the next three to six weeks with a thigh injury suffered over the weekend in a Czech league hockey game.
"With this injury, my chance to participate in the 2010 Olympics is quite low," said Hasek, who captured gold with the Czech Republic at the 1998 Nagano Games.
Hasek returned to competition after a year off, signing with his hometown team Pardubice in hopes of working himself into shape to be part of the Czech team at the Olympics. In 15 games this season, the two-time Hart Trophy winner has a 2.54 goals against average and a .918 save percentage.
Hasek was one of eight goaltenders nominated by Czech hockey officials as potential candidates for the 2010 hockey team. Florida netminder Tomas Vokoun of the Florida Panthers is the leading candidate to be the starting netminder in Vancouver.
Italy's Giuliano Razzoli takes the gold medal in the men's slalom.
Mathieu Giroux, Lucas Makowsky and Denny Morrison win a tight race with the US.
