HALIFAX - Canadian hockey star Sidney Crosby is gearing up to run with the Olympic Torch when it arrives in the Halifax area today.
Crosby, a native of Cole Harbour, N.S., is one of 12,000 torchbearers tasked with carrying the Olympic Flame across Canada as part of a massive relay leading up to the Games in February.
The Pittsburgh Penguins captain is expected to carry the torch for about 300 metres on a downtown Halifax street.
The flame touched down in the province on Monday morning.
The torch relay began its trek in Victoria last month, and will make stops in every province and territory leading up to the Winter Games in Vancouver in February.
Italy's Giuliano Razzoli takes the gold medal in the men's slalom.
Mathieu Giroux, Lucas Makowsky and Denny Morrison win a tight race with the US.
