Jayna Hefford continued her hot play of late, scoring twice, but the Canadian women's hockey team lost 4-2 to the Calgary Royals Midget AAA team on Tuesday.

Canada falls to 6-3 in Midget Series play and has lost two of its last three against AMHL competition.

Tuesday's game was the Canadian team's first since regaining its 4 Nations Cup crown on Nov. 7 in Vierumaki, Finland.

Canada managed only 14 shots on the Royals and just five in the third period, when they trailed by a single goal. The Royals had 25 shots.
Logan Madden scoed twice for Calgary, while Brad Buckingham and Reid Simmons also scored singles.

Hefford now has nine goals in Midget Series play, more than double any other Canadian skater.

Charline Labonté started in goal for Canada, and Kim St-Pierre came in at 9:30 of the second period.

The game was the first of three in four nights for Canada - it travels to Edmonton to face the SSAC Athletics on Thursday before taking on the Oil Kings in Leduc on Friday night.
