Lopes-Schliep and Felicien qualify for semis

BERLIN - Canadians Priscilla Lopes-Schliep and Perdita Felicien are through to the semifinals in the women's 100-metre hurdles at the world track and field championships.

Lopes-Schliep, of Whitby, Ont., won her preliminary heat Tuesday in 12.56 seconds while Felicien, of Pickering, Ont., was second in her opening race in 12.77 seconds. Lopes-Schliep's time was the quickest of the opening round.

The top four finishers plus the next four fastest times qualified for the semifinals.

Edmonton's Angela Whyte failed to advance, finishing fifth in her heat and 26th overall in 13.27 seconds.
