
Canada's women's hockey team won its third straight game against a local AAA midget team at the Icebreaker tournament in Calgary.
Jennifer Botterill scored the first goal against the Calgary Royals, early in the first period. A goal by Caroline Ouellette followed.
The Royals answered with one goal toward the end of the first period.
Hunter Shinkaruk opened the second period with a goal for the Royals. Hayley Irwin and Rebecca Johnston scored in the second period. Shinkaruk netted his second goal shortly after.
Ryan McPhee scored the first goal of the third period. Gillian Apps answered with a goal to close the game.
Kim St-Pierre made 25 saves for the win. James D'Andrea made 21 saves for Calgary, as the Royals outshot Canada 29-26.
Canada captures the Icebreaker Tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.
Canada has two games in Alberta this week, prior to a tilt with its U.S. rivals on October 5 in Victoria.
