TORONTO - For the past year, our country's Olympic hopefuls have been asking Canadians "Do You Believe?", as part of the ongoing Vancouver 2010 promotional campaign by Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium. Now, Canadians are able to show that they do BELIEVE - in Olympic heroes, the magic of the Games, and that Canada will win gold on home soil - by sporting exclusive BELIEVE apparel, available now at CTVOlympics.ca/store.
IMAGINE, the equivalent French promotional campaign, has merchandise available at RDSolympiques.ca/boutique. A portion of all sales from BELIEVE and IMAGINE items will go towards supporting Canadian athletes as they strive for gold at Vancouver 2010.
"The BELIEVE campaign was created as a rallying cry designed to galvanize Canadians around Vancouver 2010 and has helped build an emotional connection to our Olympic hopefuls," said Keith Pelley, President, Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium. "We have received a strong demand from Canadians for BELIEVE and IMAGINE merchandise. They want to show their support and proudly tell the world that Canadians BELIEVE our Olympians will thrive at Vancouver 2010."
A selection of BELIEVE items is available in men's, women's and children's sizing, including toques, baseball caps, scarves, shirts, hoodies and jackets.
"We're pleased to expand our partnership with the Consortium to include BELIEVE and IMAGINE merchandise in the Vancouver 2010 licensing program," said Dennis Kim, Director of Licensing and Merchandising, VANOC. "This popular campaign delivered by Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium has taken hold of Canadians, and with just over 100 days to go, it's an excellent time to make the BELIEVE and IMAGINE apparel available to fans of the 2010 Winter Games."
In addition to apparel, Canadians can bring home the Games with a deluxe five-disc commemorative Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games DVD or Blu-ray box set featuring 25 hours of the greatest moments from Vancouver 2010. Available for pre-order in English and French at CTVOlympics.ca/store and RDSolympiques.ca/boutique, this special collection features a documentary about Canadian Olympians' quest to stand atop the podium, full-length Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and highlights from each sport, including figure skating, curling, alpine skiing, speed skating, as well as one disc dedicated solely to men's and women's hockey.
With purchase of this DVD/Blu-ray box set, Canadians will receive a complimentary bilingual commemorative book, entitled The Olympic Games, featuring a unique collection of images and stories of achievements and triumphs that generations of athletes have experienced over the decades.
With any purchase, consumers will be automatically entered into a random draw to win a trip for two to Vancouver 2010, including airfare, accommodations and tickets to events.
Over the coming weeks, additional items will be available on www.CTVOlympics.ca/store and www.RDSolympiques.ca/boutique, such as Olympic Games pins and coins, replica hockey jerseys, and from Birks, a Vancouver 2010 sterling silver jewelry collection and torch replica.
