It was a big day for the United States on their home track in Lake Placid, Sunday.
Bobsleigh pilots Steve Holcomb and John Napier took gold and silver on the New York track.
After finishing the first heat in fourth place, Napier, who took gold in the two-man race Saturday, stepped it up in his second heat.
The Schenectady, NY native and his team of Jamie Moriarty, Steve Langton and Chris Fogt posted the second-fastest speed of the second run to advance two positions and earn silver.
Napier's total time of 1:50.04 was not quite good enough to overtake compatriot Holcomb and his team of Justin Olsen, Steve Mesler and Curtis Tomasevicz, who finished almost a half-second faster in 1:49.60, but with his first two World Cup medals under his belt, Napier said he was more than pleased with his results.
"It was an awesome weekend, I just consider myself truly blessed," Napier told reporters after the race, "We did a great job, push crew and everything."
Holcomb made a mistake coming through a corner in his first run, but still managed to come out on top.
"All week, I've been trying to tell myself to be patient through there and I was a little too patient," Holcomb said. He credited his push crew with the win, after they improved by two-hundredths of a second to start their second run.
"They stepped it up from 4.96 (seconds) to 4.94 and that's unbelievable," he said. "We're unstoppable here."
In third was Wolfgang Stampfer of Austria, who finished one-tenth of a second behind Napier in 1:50.14.
Canadian Lyndon Rush was unable to match last week's gold medal performance in Park City. The Humboldt, Sask., native finished seventh after posting 5.11-second start times - three-tenths of a second slower than last weekend's his gold-medal run. Pierre Lueders of Edmonton finished ninth.
