KUUSAMO - France's Jason Lamy-Chappuis won the opening event of the World Cup nordic combined season on Saturday ahead of Finland's Hannu Manninen and Eric Frenzel of Germany.
The 23-year-old achieved his sixth victory on the world circuit and first since January 2008.
He put himself on the road to victory by finishing first in the ski jump section with a leap of 142.5 metres and finished eight seconds ahead of four-time World Cup winner Manninen in the 10km cross country section.
Manninen is making his return to competition after an 18-month absence as he bids to finally seal an Olympic title in Vancouver next February.
Italy's Giuliano Razzoli takes the gold medal in the men's slalom.
Mathieu Giroux, Lucas Makowsky and Denny Morrison win a tight race with the US.
