Klassen named alternate on Canada's pursuit team
Klassen named alternate on Canada's pursuit team

Cindy Klassen may not be done racing at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The six-time medallist was named an alternate on Canada's pursuit team; the final event in long track speed skating, which begins Friday.

Klassen did not compete during the 2008-09 because she was recovering from surgery on both her knees.

Career highlights »

Klassen was the first Canadian athlete to win five medals in one Olympic Games and her six career medals are also a Canadian Olympic record.

Results »

The Canadian last competed on the World Championship circuit back in 2007, capturing silver in the 1500m and bronze in the 3000m at the Single Distances Championships.
