Austrian spoils German sweep

Germany came close to a third straight Olympic podium sweep in women's luge, but an Austrian spoiled the party, winning the silver medal. Regan Lauscher was the top Canadian, in 15th.

This Red Deer, Alta. native spent much of the 2008-09 season recovering from surgery to her shoulders. After finishing ninth at the 2005 FIL-World Championships, she fell to a disappointing 15th-place finish in 2009.

Results »

In Lake Placid 2009, her first world championship race since undergoing surgery to both shoulders, Lauscher finished 15th.
