Wakefield played in the 2008 4 Nations Cup, where Canada took silver.
Wakefield was an alternate for Canada at the 2009 World Championship.
In her second year with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats, Wakefield recorded 32 goals and 17 assists for 49 points in 31 games to rank third in the nation in goals per game.She tallied a point in 26 of 31 games with 15 multiple-point efforts. She was a Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Top 10 Finalist, Hockey East First Team All-Star, New England All-Star, and Hockey East Player of the Month (twice).
2007-2008
In her first year in the Women's Hockey East Association, Jennifer Wakefield was named Rookie of the Year for her outstanding play with the University of New Hampshire Wildcats. She finished her rookie season with 27 goals, 19 assists and 46 points in 33 games.
Wakefield was part of the Canadian national under-22 program. Her first major tournament with the senior national team was the 2007 Four Nations Cup, where she won a gold medal with Team Canada.
