Montgomery blazes to skeleton gold

He was sitting in second with one run to go, but Canada's Jon Montgomery put together a gutsy performance to win men's skeleton gold on Friday at the Whistler Sliding Centre, edging Latvia's Martins Dukurs by 0.07 seconds.

Competitive history »

Pain returned to the World Cup circuit in 2008-09 after winning the first two Canadian team selection races in Whistler and Calgary and finishing fourth at the third race in Lake Placid.

Career highlights »

Jeff Pain earned the silver medal behind compatriot Duff Gibson at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin, Italy. Pain is also a two-time world champion as well as a two-time overall World Cup champion.

As he works toward the 2010 Olympics, Jeff Pain is already a two-time Olympian. He finished sixth at his first Games in Salt Lake City, 2002. In 2006, Pain earned the silver at the Turin Olympic Winter Games.
