
IGLS, Austria - Andre Lange of Germany has won the season-ending four-man World Cup bobsled race to capture the European championship title.
Lange teamed with Rene Hoppe, Kevin Kuske and Martin Putze to finish in a two-run combined time of one minute 42.59 seconds on the 1976 Olympic track.
The Swiss team of Ivo Rüegg, which led after the opening run, was 0.05 behind in second. The German team led by Andre Florschütz took third, 0.08 behind.
Lyndon Rush of Humboldt, Sask., drove the Canada 1 sled to a seventh-place finish. Rush, Chris le Bihan of Kelowna, B.C., David Bissett of Edmonton and Calgary's Lascelles Brown finished in 1:42.75.
Pierre Lueders of Edmonton, Justin Kripps of Summerland, B.C., Jesse Lumsden of Burlington, Ont., and Neville Wright of Edmonton were 16th.
Steven Holcomb and his U.S. team had already secured the overall World Cup title last week.
