Calgary's Alex Gough picked up her third top-10 finish of the season on Saturday in Winterberg, Germany, placing sixth.

The 22-year-old , who was sixth in Calgary and fourth in Austria earlier this season, is still looking for her first World Cup podium finish.

Gough placed out of the top-10 in her last two races, but her time of one minute, 53.749 seconds over two runs on Sunday was good enough to get her back into that top group.  

"It was really about putting two consistent runs together and get back into the swing of things," Gough said in a release. "Today the goal was to get down the track with the least amount of mistakes because things have changed so much here. The track was bumpy and they changed a lot of the profiles on the corners so that contributed to a few headaches for people."

Regan Lauscher of Red Deer, Alta., was 14th, and Regina's Meaghan Simister placed 17th.

Winning gold on her home track Sunday was Natalie Geisenberger, who finished with a time of 1:53.179. Fellow German slider Tatjana Hüfner was second, and American and reigning world champion Erin Hamlin picked up the bronze medal. 

Germany also won the team event Sunday. Gough, Sam Edney, Chris Moffat and Mike Moffat teamed up for Canada, placing fifth.

The Canadian team now heads to Oberhof, Germany for the last Luge World Cup race of the season before the Olympics.

"I am really going to focus on continuing to be consistent and see what happens," said Gough. "We'll then go home for another week of training and be ready for the Olympics."
