Stecher earns 2nd victory of the season

SEEFELD, Austria - Mario Stecher of Austria won a Nordic Combined World Cup event Sunday for his first victory of the season and 10th overall.

Stecher, 32, was ninth after the ski jump and finished the 10-kilometre cross-country race in 25 minutes 32.8 seconds.

Eric Frenzel of Germany led the race until the last two kilometres and finished one second behind. Frenzel won Saturday's event.

Alessandro Pittin of Italy finished third, 2.2 seconds back.

Jason Lamy Chappuis of France, who skipped the event like several other top medal contenders for the Vancouver Olympics, leads the standings. He is 295 points ahead of Austria's Felix Gottwald with three events left.
