
A tough second run in Friday's skeleton World Cup dropped Amy Gough from the podium, well behind a German sweep.
After finishing the first run in second place, Gough, of Abbotsford, B.C., dropped to seventh in the second half of the competition.
Kerstin Szymkowiak led German sliders with a total time of 1:59.50 followed by reigning world champion Marion Trott, who finished in 2:00.21, and compatriot Anja Huber (2:00.28).
Mellisa Hollingsworth was Canada's top finisher, finishing sixth, while Michelle Kelly of Fort St. John, B.C., finished 10th.
Hollingsworth, of Eckville, Alta., continues to lead the World Cup circuit ahead of Shelley Rudman of Great Britain. Szymkowiak and Trott are third and fourth, respectively.
In the men's race Friday, Jeff Pain just missed a podium finish with a fourth place finish in 1:56.78.
It was Germany in the lead again in the event, with Michi Halilovic taking the first World Cup gold medal of his career with a time of one minute, 56.39 seconds. Alexander Tretiakov followed in second (1:56.60) while Frank Rommel, also of Germany, earned bronze (1:56.63).
Jon Montgomery finished seventh while Mike Douglas came in 11th.
The women's and men's two-man bobsleigh events are scheduled for Saturday while the men's four-man will kick off, Sunday.
