
CALGARY - Canada's Christine Nesbitt captured gold in the women's 1,000 metres, while teammate Denny Morrison won bronze in the men's race at a long track speed skating World Cup on Sunday.
Nesbitt, from London, Ont., raced to a time of one minute 14.03 seconds at the Olympic Oval.
Annette Gerritsen of the Netherlands won the silver in 1:14.48, while Monique Angermueller of Germany took the bronze in 1:14.68.
Kristina Groves of Ottawa was fourth in 1:14.83.
Shani Davis of the U.S. won the men's 1,000 in a track record time of 1:07.77. Lee Kyou-Hyuk of South Korea took the silver in 1:07.61, while Morrison, from Fort St. John, B.C., finished in 1:07.77 for bronze.
Italy's Giuliano Razzoli takes the gold medal in the men's slalom.
